URBAN KIZ

Urban Kiz is the perfect combination between connection, technique and expression. In Urban Kiz we learn to feel the music and express through dance. In our classes we focus on finding your own way to express yourself in Urban Kiz. We will give you the technical guidelines needed to understand your partner and communicate through your dance. For this we use 4 basic principles; weight transfers, connection, posture, lines.

History

Kizomba is a dance that knows its origin in Angola. The meaning of the word ‘Kizomba’ is Party. Throughout the years the dance of kizomba started changing and was influenced by many different styles of music and dance like Afro, HipHop and Tango. From this Urban Kiz was born.

In Urban Kiz we use the principles of Kizomba as a base for our dancing but also introduce the techniques and expression of all the other dances to express yourself in this dance.

Level Checks

Do you have some experience in Kizomba or Urban Kiz, come by for a level check! Level checks are important to find the level where you can best progress in your dancing and that most fits your needs. Besides that we use them to maintain the quality of our classes. In a level check we will determine your current level of dancing. The level checks take place in The Hague and Leiden with one of our teachers. You show them your knowledge through a dance of about 5/10 mins. Moments after, the level we believe is right for you will be communicated to you together with the reasoning.

PRIVATE CLASSES

In a private class the focus is 100% on your needs and goals. Through personalized feedback we will help you take the next step in your dancing.

If you are really serious about your growth, private classes are the way to go!

We do however want to emphasize the importance of practice when taking private classes. Since there is a lot of information in a short time, to get most out of it, it is important to take the time to practice all these new things.

You can choose to take a private class with one of our teachers or both. Price will change accordingly (see prices; link to price tab specifically part about privates)
